Grade 12 Focus Course: CPT
The final 30% of your grade in the grade 12 Focus course consists of BOTH a final Art piece (with the option to do a mural) AND a presentation of your work to your teacher and peers (on the Exam Day).
The various components will be prepared in the timeframe after your final art piece is due and the date of the presentations (below). Please continue to read for CPT preparation instructions and evaluation information.

FRIDAY, JUNE 14th (NO exceptions)
Planning Instructions:
For your last Art Piece can you have total creative freedom to complete the Drawing / Painting / Sculpture of your choice. There is also the option of creating a painted Mural within the school. Just as with other pieces this semester, you will have to provide planning - in this case in order to receive confirmation to go ahead with the work. Please include the following in your sketchbook:
NOTE: IF you are doing a Mural, please consider the message and aesthetic value that your art piece intends to bring to our school community. What legacy / message do you want to leave with the school?

- A minimum of 4 pages of planning for the piece (this MUST include the following....)
- Notes and rough sketches explaining your IDEA / CONCEPT in both written / visual form
- A "to-scale / proportional" detailed drawing of your concept, in colour (for example a 9x12' wall = 9x12" drawing)
- Swatches / samples of colours and / or materials you plan to use
- Any references / resources that are helping with your design

Art Piece Instructions:

You will be expected to begin the project after receiving approval of your plans. The final THREE weeks of the semester will e dedicated studio time for this piece, but DO NOT wait until that time to begin. The final work is to demonstrate a culmination of all you have learned over the past 4 years in our Art Program!

Artist Statement (Written & Presented Orally)
Write an artist statement that discusses your personal artistic approach and explains your body of work this year. Discuss themes you have explored and how you have tackled them visually. You can comment on how you have grown as an artist and how your art has evolved over your years an an SJA Art student. Some specifics about how to write an artist statement are provided in a file for downloading below. Your finished statement must be submitted in print form for evaluation and presented orally. Length: approx. 1-2 pages, single-spaced (12 point font).
Portfolio Presentation (submitted in Powerpoint)
Create a visual presentation on powerpoint to accompany your oral presentation. Treat this as a visual portfolio. You are expected to present ALL FIVE of your Art Pieces created in this course in a professional manner. For each art work include the following...
(1) a clear photograph of the finished work - accompanied by the appropriate credit line information (title, medium, date).
(2) documentation of your process in developing the piece (can be images from your sketchbook, notes, etc.)
(3) optional: you may include short quotations from your artist statement, (but not whole paragraphs)
NOTE: Even though you have photographed your work, you must also have the art pieces on hand (in the classroom) for your presentation. Minimum length: 11 slides (1 intro. slide, 2 slides per art piece).
