Sculpture Unit (student group 3)
For your sculpture project you will be making something from wood and/or wire mesh.
The look of your art should be abstract / industrial design. (don't know what that means? look it up)
20/Thinking Marks - for the development of your ideas.
-Develop 2-4 pages in your sketchbook of research ideas, notes and sketches on wood and wire sculptures.
-Glue the examples into your sketchbook and make notes.
-Look specifically for examples that are related to the human form (don't forget they should be Abstracted or have an Industrial Design feel).
Your final sculpture assignment should be inspired by the human form and constructed in wood and wire. It will be displayed in the "outdoor classroom"

Printmaking (student group 1)
For your printmaking unit you will be working with Monoprints.
Review the technical notes on making a monoprint.
The look of your monoprint should feel spontaneous and free.

Read and glue into your sketchbook the poem you selected, highlight key words from the poem, begins sketches, write down ideas/thoughts as part of your planning. Glue in your /experiments and test monoprints into your sketchbook.
For your final project, select a poem from the list below and create one large (18x24) monoprint of your own interpretation/expression.

Drawing (student group 2)
For a continuation of your drawing unit, you will be looking at the human face.
The look of your art should be realism.
/20Thinking & /20 Knowledge Marks - for the practice sketches in your book
They include: (each worth 10 marks) Each area will explore different dry mediums.
studies of the eyes
studies of the lips and nose
studies of the face muscles
& studies of the mannequin head (shading)
Final project is a realistic portrait (8x10), of someone you know in the medium of your choice.

Design (student group 4)
For this design unit, you will complete two different projects.
Project A) Use your large ink drawing and extracting from them (by cutting it up), examples of various compositional designs.
They include:
1. vertical

4. overlapping frames

6. horizontal
7. diagonal
8. meandering
9. tension
10. cantilever
Your examples are to be cut using an exacto knife and the paper cutting for perfect edges. Submit your 10 designs in a professional and neat package.
