Grade 12 Focus - Drawing / Painting / Sculpture

IMPORTANT!
Planning for the CPT is due Tuesday, APRIL 2nd!
Go to CPT instructions...

In this course, you will be creating a body of work and focusing on the creative process with guidance from the instructor.  The main expectation is self-discipline to engage in art making as an opportunity for honing your skills and self-discovery.  There are only a four components of this course:

1. Sketchbook Studies (2 per month)
Each week we will complete a series of sketchbook studies to improve your artistic skills.  Each month there will be a different focus which will be determined through class discussion / preferences.

2. Independent Art Pieces (1 per month)
You will be creating 4 independent art pieces in the medium you have chosen to focus on.  Generic themes will be assigned (again chosen through class discussion / preferences) to guide you as a starting point.  For each art piece you will be expected to complete sketchbook preparation following the same format as that in the grade 12 Visual Arts course.  These will be due on the day of the mid-critique for evaluation.  Due dates are posted below.

3. Written Assignments
There are two written assignments in the course.  One is a reflection paper based on aspects of the creative process.  The other is a reflection based on a gallery visit. Follow the links below for details (check date posted - may need to be updated).

4. CPT
The final 30% in this course is made of two parts: you will create a final art piece (you have the option of a mural or another culminating art piece), and you will participate in a portfolio presentation on the designated Exam Day.
